Selmer
Selmer starts production in the early '30's, after they bought the Adolph Sax workshop. 1933 is an important year because then they launched the "Louis Armstrong" balanced action 23A trumpet, later followed by the Harry James model. In the '30's and '40's Selmer concentrated on the jazzplayers but didn't neglect the classical players, from the mid '50's Selmer is marketleader in the development and production of piccolotrumpets. Since then, a long coöperation with the legendary Maurice André resulted in new and better models.
Today, Selmer had the following brass instruments: | Chorus 80J | The Bb trumpet 'Chorus 80J' is mainly developed from a jazzplayers point of view. Several different technical details add to the specific character of this model: an easy and centered production of sound, very open and a great projection. 'Chorus 80J' : a trumpet for small ensembles with a wide spectrum of possibilities!
| | Concept TT | Power and elegance: the 'Concept TT' is an artistic add-on to the 'Chorus' models. Based on the 'TT' technology ('Twin Tube') the instrument is responsible for extraordinary acoustic qualities: a direct and centered tone, harmonicly very open and dynamic, and a very easy response . All these elements contribute to a remarkable easy handling and make it suitable for soloists and sectionplayers alike, in jazz as well as classical music.
| | Sigma | The rebirth of the trumpet as an orchestral instrument. Thanks to the artistic co-operation with several important trumpetplayers brings Selmer Paris with the Sigma the result of their great and long history in making brass instruments. It's a very beautiful allround trumpet which reflects the heritage of the French great trumpetplayers.
| | 900 TT-C | An orchestral C trumpet, suitable for principals and sectionplayers alike. Developed from the 'Twin tube' concept, the 900 TT-C combines a big sound with a very easy response and handling, and has a very good balance in intonation and dynamics.
| | 365 BLF | Piccolo-trumpet in Bb/A 365 BLF short model. This model is the famous compact original Selmer Paris piccolo. It is recognized for its bold sound in the tradition of the Selmer piccolo, developed with and made famous by the legendary Maurice André.
| | 465 BLF | Piccolo-trumpet in Bb/A 465 BLF long model with detachable bell. Selmer Paris developed the revival of the 'barock' trumpets. The know how they learned during the development of these special instruments is found in this 465 BLF. The total length of this model is comparable to a modern C trumpet. This particular shape is responsible for the ease of playing of this model, rich harmonics, even intonation and centered sound in all registers.
| Concept flugelhorn | The 'Concept' flugelhorn respects the original roots of this type of instrument. A broad sound, round in all registers with a big centre of tone. It plays very easy, especially when played soft. It is suitable for classical musicians as well as jazz and brass band players.
| Concept Bb cornet | Within the 'Concept' series, the cornet is a next step in the evolution of sound and finds it's way to a lot of symphony orchestras and brass bands. | | | | | | |
