Feniks
Feniks is a new high-end brand, custom built in Germany by the best craftsmen in the business. Feniks trumpets are an alternative! Most trumpet makers want their instruments to be as allround as possible. The Feniks is built for specialists, not for middle of the road use. That's why there are very few alternatives for the Feniks trumpets available. Most trumpet makers try to achieve an even sound in high and low alike. Nice, but not for the Feniks. It's the reason why a lot of trumpets sound so boring. The Feniks sounds bright, fat and full with a lot of sizzle in the high register, and warm and full in the low register.
The instruments are designed from the players point of view alone, the right tool for the job. That doesn't show in just the cosmetic design, they are very basic to look at. But thay also have some less visible innovations. First, and well visible of course, is the 'Virtual Brace' on the Hades model. The bubbles on the tuningslide work the same as a brace, but without the drawbacks of a brace. That means an improved focus, stability and projection, but without losing flexibility. The specially designed leadpipe which makes the higher register easier to play is another innovation, as well as the changed venturi in the bottom leg of the tuningslide. This too makes the Feniks easier to play, more compression without adding resistance. | Model | Description | | | Hades | Hades is the boss of the underworld, the God of Hell. The name makes it quite obvious for what purpose the instrument is made. No other trumpet available today plays easier or slots better between the high and double high C than this horn. Add a huge sound, a tremendous projection and sizzle and it’s clear that it’s not the first instrument you think about when playing the Haydn or Hummel concertos. On the other hand, when you’re a lead trumpet player in a big band or rock band, you cannot ignore it. It works amazingly well with a microphone and the pick up is very good even when you’re not playing directly in front of the mike. Available only in silver and palladium. | | | | | | | Aeolus | Aeolus was the keeper of the four winds. An allround trumpet with a warm and full sound yet very clear and transparent. The Aeolus has the same ease of playing as the Hades model, but has a sound that is more suitable for the classical and section player, and jazz soloists. The main differences with the Hades are the reversed leadpipe and a tuning slide with a fixed brace, heavier receiver with a smaller gap, and a big gold brass bell. Only available in 24K goldplate. | | | | | | | Orpheus | The ancient Greek Orpheus could sing and play so beautifully that the wind stopped blowing and the rivers stopped streaming just to listen to him. Well, how about that for a name for a trumpet. The Orpheus is an allround trumpet like the Aeolus, but with a smaller and lighter brass bell. This makes the Orpheus sound a bit more compact and brighter than his bigger brother the Aeolus, but not as aggressive as the Hades. An excellent instrument for symphony orchestras, chamber music and commercial music. | | | | | | | Gaia | Gaia means 'Mother Earth'. The Gaia flugelhorn has a very warm and dark ‘wooden’ sound with a very big centre without spreading the sound too much. It is built quite compact so it can be carried in most triple gig bags. It is a very responsive and easy playing instrument. No matter what comes in mind when you’re improvising, the Gaia’s response is lightning fast. Changed ergonomics makes the instrument easier to handle giving you more control over the instrument. Available only in 24K goldplate | |
